Used cars: after months of research, Elisabeth’s “damn good deal”

She had been looking for a new used car for months. “The leasing of my previous Zoé (Renault) was coming to an end, I had to decide between extending it or leaving with a new vehicle,” recalls Élisabeth Da Silva, a sales assistant living in Verrières-le-Buisson (Essonne) .

“And then, as I needed a model for short distances, whether it was going to drop my son off at school, on the other side of the city, or then going to my work, in Vélizy- Villacoublay (Yvelines), taking a Zoé was the best choice,” says this fan of electric vehicles, particularly out of concern for preserving the environment. Élisabeth then takes the time to “occasionally” look at the ads.

A 2020 model at 15,000 euros

After two or three months of research, she set her sights, at the start of the year, on a 2020 model for just over 15,000 euros. “A hell of a good deal,” she rejoices: “When I started looking at the prices, at the end of 2023, they were still more expensive, by around 10%,” assesses this mother of two boys from 7 and 16 years old. Once the model has been chosen, Élisabeth goes to the Ile-de-France dealership that put it on sale, and negotiates, this time, a good price on the leasing.

The first month, more expensive, is absorbed “thanks to the State bonus of 1,000 euros”. Since then, she has made a payment of 220 euros per month, which makes the car the second largest budget item in the family, behind real estate (1,300 euros). Certainly a lower proportion than in other families since her husband, a salesman, has a company car.

Élisabeth, who is on her third Zoé, is still satisfied with her purchase: “It is perfect for the 5,000 km that I do each year, and since we have a house, I can recharge it peacefully at home. » The leasing contract is signed for four years. Which gives her time to think about what she will do then: extend or opt for a new car. But always second-hand, of course.
