“The Little Friend”, a theatrical performance by the Theater Workshop “Curtain and go” of the “Pomegranate Education” Schools – 2024-04-02 01:04:26

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 6:30 p.m., in the “Kallipateira” hall of the “RODION PIDEIA” Schools, the theatrical performance “The Little Friend”, based on the book of the same name by Maria Arvanitaki, was presented.

The show’s script was based on the theatrical adaptation of the book, on poems from Greek literature and on ideas-thoughts of the students. The theatrical composition and direction of the work was done by the teacher Homeros Giannas, while the roles were performed by the students of the Theater Workshop “Curtain and let’s go” of the “RODION PAIDEIA” Educational Schools, in collaboration with the “PROODOS” Cultural Association Kremastis.

Also, during the show, video clips were shown, the filming of which took place in the Marc garden of the Marc de Montalabert Foundation in the Old Town. The videos were shot and edited by Mr. Haris Zabetoullas.

Through the story of little Stergakis, memories of our local history came to life on stage, while the spectators had the opportunity to watch the match of the Friends of Rhodes and the love that the little fighter had for his homeland, which led him to the decision to fight on the ships of the revolution.

“The seas are open and our sea fighters are fighting the Turks. I’m thinking of leaving, going with them!” Thus, from Rhodes he found himself in the holocaust of Kasos, meeting great fighters and experiencing the destruction, while he also fought in the Battle of Gerontas, reminding everyone that “freedom is not given, but conquered”.

The author of the book Maria Arvanitaki honored us with her presence, who expressed her enthusiasm for the children’s performance.

The theatrical performance took place in the context of the celebration of March 25, 1821 and the 200th anniversary of the Kasos Holocaust.
