• K.G. Arunraj was born and raised in Salem, Tamil Nadu.

• After completing his MBBS degree, he initially served at rural healthcare of Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu.

• In 2009, he transitioned from healthcare career to civil service by clearing Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination and joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).

• Since 2009, he has been writing personal blogs on corruption, electoral reforms and prohibition.

• For Over 15 years, he served in the Income Tax department across Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Maharashtra.

• As an income tax officer, Arunraj gained recognition as a fearless officer by handling several high- profile cases. One of his prominent actions was in 2016, where he seized about Rs 90 Crore cash associated with businessman Shekar Reddy and his associates.

• In 2017, he led an investigation linked to the Kodanadu estate case, where he raids the family of V.K. Sasikala, a former aide of J. Jayalatithaa.

• During the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, Anuraj while serving as the Joint Commissioner in the Income Tax Department, he was transferred to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) headquarters by the Election Commission of India. That time his transfer was widely taken as disciplinary action against him.

• In May 2025, Arunraj took early retirement from the IRS to join politics.

• In June 2025, he joined actor turned politician Vijay‘s led party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

• While working at TVK, party’s president Vijay noted that Arunraj’s administrative experience and educational background would strengthen the party’s policy direction and communication strategy, so on 9 June 2025, he appointed him as the General Secretary for Policy and Propaganda.

• In January 2026, Arunraj was appointed as a head of a 12-member committee constituted to draft the party’s manifesto for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

• In April 2026, Arunraj won the assembly seat in a closely contested race from the Namakkal Lok Sabha constituency in Namakkal district in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election as a TVK candidate.
