• His parents are of Indian descent. His paternal grandparents were Indian immigrants. His father was born in England.

• His mother was from Kenya. She moved to England from Kenya with her family when she was a teenager.

• His father worked for the community in England and used to play tennis in his free time.

• His mother had served as a mental health nurse and an aerobics teacher.

• As a child, Aaron Rai dreamed of becoming a race car driver. He liked wearing T-shirts and pants which have Ferrari printed on them. He used to attend junior golf competitions while wearing these clothes.

• He liked playing Formula 1 racing games in his childhood.

• Reportedly, Aaron Rai started playing and loving golf by accident.

• When he was four years old, he was accidently hurt by his brother’s hockey stick. After that, his mother went to the market to buy some plastic sticks for the safety of her children.

• In 2012, Aaron Rai became a professional golf player and participated in the EuroPro and the Challenge Tour golf championships.

• In 2015, Aaron Rai competed in the Glenfarclas Open and finished 5th in the Order of Merit.

• After that, he became eligible for the 2016 Challenge Tour.

• During the 2016 Challenge Tour, Aaron Rai stood at 18th Order of Merit. He missed a position for the European Tour championship.

• After that, during the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, his best finish was joint runner-up. He was a stroke behind the winner, Alexander Björk.

• In 2017, Aaron Rai competed at the Challenge Tour and won three times. 

• In March 2017, he competed at the Barclays Kenya Open championship and won by three strokes. After the match, his mother hugged him on the ground to congratulate him for his victory.

• Aaron Rai stated in the media that his mother left Kenya in 1970, and it was her first visit to Kenya since then.

• In May 2017, he completed in the Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 and won. He defeated his opponent Gavin Moynihan, an Irishman by 2&1 in the 9-hole final.

• In July 2017, Aaron Rai participated in the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge and won the game by five strokes. 

• After that, he became eligible for the European Tour. 

• In May 2017, at Walton Heath, Aaron Rai became a topper at an international qualifying event for the U.S. Open, but he did not make it past the cut in his first major tournament. 

• In 2018, in the first season of his European Tour, he was finished four times in top 10. At the end of the season, he was placed 58th in the Order of Merit.

• That same year, Aaron Rai participated in the BMW International Open championship and was tied for 5th place.

• In November 2018, he competed in the Nedbank Golf Challenge and stood 8th. 

• After that, Aaron Rai participated in the 2018 Honma Hong Kong Open. In three rounds, he won by 6 strokes; however, Matt Fitzpatrick defeated him in the fourth round. 

• His lead was cut to one shot after 16 holes, but Fitzpatrick made a bogey on the 17th hole. Rai also made a bogey on the final hole and won by one stroke.

• In September 2020, Aaron Rai competed in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. He held the 54-hole lead, but did not win. His opponent John Catlin defeated him by two shots. He then finished as a runner-up.

• That same month, he participated in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open and won. He defeated his opponent Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff.

• After that, Aaron Rai was named in the world’s top 100 golf player’s list.

• In August 2021, he participated in the Albertsons Boise Open as part of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals and received a PGA Tour card for the 2021-22 season.

• During these championships, Aaron Rai had a one-shot lead going into the final hole of the tournament, but a double bogey on the last hole placed him into a tie for second position. He was one shot behind Greyson Sigg.

• After that, the results allowed Rai to keep his tour card for the next season.

• In 2022, Aaron Rai competed in the PGA Tour FedExCup Standings and finished 93rd. After that, he became eligible to play in the next year championships.

• Aaron Rai then became the only golfer in 30 men to qualify the Tour Championship without playing any signature event.

• In November 2025, he participated in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship and won the title. He defeated his opponent Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff. On his first extra hole, Rai made a birdie and won.

• In 2026, Aaron Rai participated in the Par 3 Contest at the Masters Tournament.

• He made headlines on 17 May 2026 when he won the 2026 PGA Championship organised at the Aronimink Golf Club. He scored 271 points and 9 shots under par.

• Rai wears two gloves while playing golf. Reportedly, he has been wearing two gloves since the age of eight. While talking to a media outlet, he shared that he wore two gloves for better grip. Rai said,
  

  I started wearing them from the age of eight for better grip. My game isn’t pretty without them.”
