Here is all you need to know about Real Madrid’s rising star Paulo Iago including his age, career, bio and height

Paulo Iago, a young player for Real Madrid, is likely to depart the team this summer after being rumoured to be dissatisfied with his lack of playing time.

The Madrid squad, which gave him a summertime contract extension until 2025, assured him that they recognised him as a promising player with the ability to make the first team and guaranteed him a leading position.

However, the young player is not satisfied with the playing time he gets at the club and wants to move somewhere he gets more time. Iago is represented by Jorge Mendes, and all the signs point to the Mendes being forced to accept an exit at the end of the day.

A summer departure seems possible because Iago has already told those close to him that he wants to work on a project where he feels trusted and respected for the next season. He hasn’t been getting enough playing time with Alvaro Arbeloa’s Juvenil A club, which has made this season disappointing for him.

Who is Paulo Iago?

Paulo Iago Alvarez Moron, also known as Paulo or just Paulo is a Spanish professional football player who was born on April 10, 2007 in Madrid, Spain. The playmaker currently plays midfield for Real Madrid Juvenil A. The 16 year old has a height of 1.76m.

A look at Paulo Iago’s career so far

Paulo Iago, a Madrid native, took an early interest in football at the age of two and his father’s footballing background played a vital role in developing his interest.

The 16-year-old started training at Parque Sureste when he was four years old, but not long after, he had a skateboarding accident that damaged both his tibia and fibula. He took a year off before coming back to lead his category in scoring at five years old. For a player so young, it is uncommon that professional teams like Real Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, and Atletico Madrid scouted him.

Before joining Real Madrid in 2014, he had brief stints at Adpi Rivas and Estrella de Madrid. He made good success at La Fabrica, scoring more than 150 goals in his first five years at the team. He signed with Los Blancos in 2022 following his signing with super agent Jorge Mendes.

Talking about his international career, he has under-15 Spanish national team experience. In August 2022, he received a call-up to the under-16 squad. He is currently U17 international.

Paulo Iago’s parents

Paulo’s father, Xose “Pepe” Alvarez Murias is a former amateur football player from A Fonsagrada, Lugo, supported him in this endeavour.
