The incident occurred near Mebbooba Nagar in Andhra Pradesh when the vehicle she was traveling in lost control, colliding with a divider and subsequently being struck by a bus en route from Hyderabad to Vanaparthi.

Regrettably, Pavitra succumbed to the accident on the spot. Alongside her, the accident caused severe injuries to her cousin Apeksha, the driver Srikanth, and actor Chandrakanth, who were all returning to Hanakere in the Mandya district of Karnataka at the time.
