• Humayun Kabir is an Indian politician born and raised in Narkelbari, West Bengal.

• Kabir began his political career with Indian National Congress, West Bengal.

• In 2011, he won election as MLA from the Rejinagar constituency, in Murshidabad district as INC candidate. However, in 2012, he left INC and resigned from his post.

• In 2012, he joined All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), where he served as Minister of State, Animal Resources Development till 2013.

• In 2015, Humayun Kabir was expelled from Trinamool Congress for doing anti-party activities.

• In the 2016 elections, Kabir contested as an independent candidate to retain his Rejinagar seat; however, he lost the seat.

• In 2018, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

• In the 2019 general elections, Humayun contested unsuccessful from Murshidabad seat.

• In 2021, after completing six years of expulsion, he rejoined All India Trinamool Congress (TMC).

• In the 2021 Legislative Assembly election, Humayun won as MLA from Bharatpur seat.

• In April 2026, Humayun Kabir came into news, after Trinamool Congress shared a video, in which, he was making controversial claims about Muslims in West Bengal and his ‘links’ with the BJP. In the video, he was also claiming he had been in touch with the PMO and was advised to coordinate with leaders from BJP-ruled states, including Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

• In the video clip, Kabir was also outling a strategy to divert minority votes away from the TMC. He was also referring to a Rs 1,000 crore plan, claiming that Rs 200 crore had already been received as an advance.

• In response to the video, Humayun Kabir denied all the allegation, and said he had no contact with any BJP leaders since 2019.
