Alejandro Tabilo Alvarez is a Chilean and former Canadian professional tennis player who was born on June 2, 1997, in Toronto, Canada. He is the son of Ricardo and Maria Tabilo. He is currently the No. 2 Chilean player and trains under his coach, Guillermo Gomez. The Chilean international recently went viral after managing to beat men’s world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Alejandro Tabilo beats World No.1 Novak Djokovic

Tabilo, who is currently competing in the 2024 Italian Open, managed to beat men’s world no. 1 Novak Djokovic on May 12, 2024. He managed to beat Novak Djokovic with a score of 2-6, 3-6. Following the win, he managed to progress to the fourth round of the 2024 Italian Open in Rome.

After the match, the Canadian-born Santiago resident stated:

I can’t believe it, I’ve been talking with my family, my girlfriend, all my friends… I just can’t believe it. I’m soaking it all in with my team, still trying to process.

My team were asking me when I realised during the game that I could win.”

He further added:

Honestly, in no moment, was I like, okay, I can win this.”

Alejandro Tabilo shared how he felt quite happy after the first set and was playing incredible tennis. He added how he wanted to keep at that level and take the whole match point by point.  The win comes as a breakthrough for Tabilo, especially with the Paris 2024 Olympics less than three months away.
