Ayesha Yousef Hazarika, Baroness Hazarika, MBE, born on December 15, 1975, in Bellshill, Scotland, is a prominent figure in Scottish broadcasting, journalism, and political commentary.

Raised in Coatbridge, Hazarika pursued her education at Glasgow’s Laurel Bank before studying law at the University of Hull.

Initially aspiring to become a solicitor, her career path shifted towards journalism after she embarked on a comedy course, ultimately leading her to perform stand-up comedy alongside her job as a press officer at the Department of Trade and Industry.

Despite her initial success in comedy, Hazarika transitioned to focus on her burgeoning career in political advising post-2007.

Her family, immigrants from India, settled in Scotland, where her father, Liyaqat Ali Hazarika of North Lakimpur, practiced medicine after relocating to Glasgow in the 1960s. As of now, there is no information available as to whether Ayesha Hazarika is married or who her husband is.

The 48-year-old also expressed her appreciation for the support and underscored the significance of the moment, particularly acknowledging the sacrifices and hard work of her immigrant parents.

For the unfamiliar, recognized for her outstanding contributions to politics, Hazarika was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2016.

With a wealth of experience garnered from her roles as a Scottish political aide, a member of the UK Labour Party, and a law graduate from the University of Hull, she now assumes her role as a life peer in the House of Lords.
