Due to an unknown error, users of the WhatsApp messenger on Android cannot send videos they have shot in conversations. The 9to5Google portal reports this with reference to complaints on forums and social networks, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

“After learning about the problem, we checked and encountered the same problem: video files have not been sent properly in the last 24 hours. A pop-up notification appears that reads: “This video cannot be sent. Please select another video and try again.” Unfortunately, this [ошибка] remains,” the journalists write.

After studying all the complaints, 9to5Google came to the conclusion that the error appears when sending videos shot on a smartphone – all other videos are sent without problems. In addition, the bug sometimes appears when sending videos downloaded from Instagram (the owner of the company Meta is recognized as extremist in Russia and is prohibited). Whether sending the video as a document (without compression) causes the glitch is not specified.

The bug, due to which users are unable to send videos, is believed to have appeared with the WhatsApp update on Android numbered 2.24.9.34. The only solution at the moment is to manually install an earlier version of WhatsApp numbered 2.24.8.85.

The messenger developers have not yet commented on the situation.
