The prison term of Aziz Orujov, head of “Kanal 13” Internet TV, has been extended for another month – until March 27. On February 21, the Sabail District Court made a decision on this.

The lawyer of the journalist, Bahruz Bayramov, said that he considers this decision unfounded: “Aziz Orujov repeated that he considers the accusations to be fabricated and connects them to his journalistic activity.”

The defense intends to file an appeal against the court’s decision.

Aziz Orujov, head of “Kanal 13” Internet Television, was detained on November 27 last year. The Sabail District Court of Baku City chose a 3-month preventive measure against him.

Accusation under articles 188.2 (violation of the right to ownership, use or lease of land, carrying out arbitrary construction or installation works on a plot of land without a lease right) and 206.3.2 (smuggling by a group of persons who colluded in advance) of the Criminal Code Aziz Orujov denies the accusations and says that his arrest was aimed at restricting journalistic activities.
