“The horror is not that ministers talk nonsense, but that Ilham Aliyev believes them” – 2024-04-04 02:14:47

On July 31, a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic results of the last 6 months was held under the chairmanship of the country’s president, Ilham Aliyev. At the meeting, the socio-economic situation in the country is at a high level, the population is satisfied with their livelihood, etc. has been talked about. Chairman of the National Council, Jamil Hasanli, commented on some of the allegations made in the meeting and the progress of the meeting in general. Mr. Jamil wrote on his Facebook page:

“Terror and disaster” Elman Rustamov, Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank, “98 percent of the population does not believe in the acceleration of inflation in the rest of the year”, Sahil Babayev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, “to date, the full satisfaction level of our citizens has exceeded 93 percent, and an additional 4 percent are partially satisfied.” It does not mean that Ilham Aliyev believes in such nonsense at this time. It is necessary to ask, if indeed 93 percent of the population is satisfied with your half-hearted work, then why have you banned the freedom of free assembly, which is the private right of the citizen, with a thousand excuses and tricks?

But being ecstatic about this nonsense, Aliyev himself added twice that a record indicator was also achieved in agriculture. The import of agricultural products consumed in the country has skyrocketed, the head of the country says that record indicators have been achieved. “Agriculture increased by 13 percent in six months of this year.” Although the increase in agriculture is calculated in the fall, they count the “chick” that should be counted in the fall in the month of Gorabishan.

Ilham Aliyev said that the minimum wage and minimum pension have been significantly increased. The first time it increased by 40 percent, and the second time by 40 percent, it will be paid from September. The minimum wage was raised almost twice, from 130 manats to 250 manats. The pension was increased from 116 manats to 200 manats. First, the person reports the increases that the population has not yet received. Second, what is the actual rate of these increases? Who should give the report of the burning market, the increasing prices every day? That is, our citizens who worked until this year received 76 dollars, after January 19 they will receive 94 dollars, in the fall this number will be 147 dollars. Regarding what Ilham Aliyev said about pensions increasing from 116 manats to 200 manats, that is, until now more than half of 1.4 million pensioners received a pension of 68 dollars, after that they will receive 117 dollars. We ask: where in the world is there 147 dollars of wages and 117 dollars of pensions that have not yet entered the pockets of the population? And finally, Ilham Aliyev announced at the meeting that since the beginning of this year, 60,000 new jobs have been opened in the country, and about 40,000 of them are paid public jobs, that is, trolls.

At that meeting, no one said that 93 percent of the population is interested in why the government does not provide child support, and 98 percent of citizens are interested in the fate of the promised health insurance. After all, Azerbaijan is one of the 10 countries in the world with the worst indicator of healthcare costs per capita, along with Eritrea, Syria, Libya, Yemen and others. For example, if the issue of social protection of the population was touched upon in the consultation, why was it not clarified why 467,000 poorest citizens were deprived of targeted social assistance in the amount of 226 million manats in the last 2 years? After all, this means 117 thousand families. If we are talking about the economy, it was not mentioned in the meeting that for what reason SOCAR has incurred a foreign debt of about 20 billion manats in recent years and who will pay this debt? How long will the limit robbery applied to gas and electricity continue? After all, if a social issue is discussed, how can one avoid the juggling of limits? For example, it was not explained in the speeches that each of the railway carriages that Belarus sold to Russia and Poland for approximately 1.7 million dollars was bought by the Azerbaijani authorities for 15.2 million dollars. What is the reason for buying the same product 9 times more expensive? The plausible explanation of SOCAR investing billions of dollars in Russia and Azerbaijan’s government investing 1 billion euros in Montenegro while unemployment is rampant in the country was not given at the meeting. A bankrupt factory in a neighboring country should be bought for 2.5 billion dollars? It was not even clarified to him how it happened that the “Bombardier” company sold $19 million worth of equipment to Azerbaijan for 5.5 times more – $104 million? But who should clarify all these questions?

Finally, if we are talking about the results of 6 months, it was not admitted at the meeting that the government of Ilham Aliyev did not do these salary increases, pension increases, and social concessions on its own accord, but because of the fear of the January 19 rally of the National Council with the support of the people. In other words, the National Council made the country’s criminal, corrupt and wasteful government spend around 3 billion manats this year. Next year, this cost should be slightly more than 6 billion. If the National Council and the people manage to withdraw the child benefit from the government by next year, Ilham Aliyev will have to add approximately 2 billion to that number. If we take into account the introduction of medical insurance and the abolition of gas and electricity limits, the government will have to spend 9-10 billion manats next year from the blessings of January 19. Imagine, the government was able to take 181 million manats, i.e. 106 million dollars, in one year from keeping 38 billion foreign currency reserves. How to deal with so many expenses with this trick? I say, it is better if the government does not take this cost out of the people’s pockets by means of unimaginable fines. The nation should be alert. When listening to what was said at the meeting on July 31, one remembers a good word of Fyodor Dostoyevsky. He said that “a person who lies to himself will not be able to tell the truth from a lie after a while.”
