Miami Open, Arnaldi stops in the round of 16 beaten by Macháč

The adventure ends here for Matteo Arnaldi, beaten with a double 6-3 by Tomáš Macháč, 60th in the world ranking. It was the first time for the Italian tennis player, n. 38 ATP, in the round of 16 of a Master 1000. A complicated match right from the start for the Italian who suffered the psychological burden of having to chase the Czech, who will now face the winner of Sinner-O’Connell in the quarter-finals.

Macháč, who has so far proven to be a great fighter, wins the first set 6-3 in 41 minutes, thanks also to the many errors made by the Ligurian. In the second set the blue, who couldn’t make any more mistakes, tried to change his game so as not to suffer his opponent again but the Czech didn’t give away much. Today’s match was not the usual Matteo that we had become accustomed to in previous matches of the tournament, while we saw Machac always serve with great effectiveness, but above all benefit from the numerous errors of the blue. A second set that showed us an increasingly disheartened Matteo, unable to undermine the Czech’s confidence. And Macháč also wins the second set 6-3 and qualifies for the quarter-finals.

Matteo Arnaldi’s journey in Miami to date: in the first round he beat Fils 6-3, 6-4, in the second he beat Bublik 6-4, 6-1 and in the third he won over Shapovalov 6-3, 7-6(7).
