Lok Sabha Election Update: 14 Candidates Submit Nomination Papers in Kerala, Voter List Addition Deadline Extended

Today, the first day of submission of nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections, 14 candidates have completed their nomination papers in various Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Kollam LDF candidate M Mukesh and Kasaragod NDA candidate ML Ashwini have submitted their papers. Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul had informed that the preparations for submission of nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections in Kerala have been completed.

Elections will be held on April 26 in 98 constituencies including 20 constituencies in Kerala. Constituency-wise information that candidates have submitted their nomination papers is four in Thiruvananthapuram, three in Kollam, one in Mavelikkara, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode and two in Kasaragod. In other constituencies, no one has submitted their papers yet.

The papers have to be submitted before the returning officers concerned for all the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. The time of receipt of papers is 11 am to 3 pm. The deadline is April 4. Scrutiny will be held on April 5. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is April 8.

The opportunity to add name to the voter list is till March 25

Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul said that those who have not yet added their names to the voter list will have a chance to cast their votes in this Lok Sabha election till March 25. The final list will be prepared after the official level examination of their applications which will be held till April 4. Newly added names will be added to the current voter list. They can cast their votes using the identity documents approved by the Election Commission. The Chief Electoral Officer informed that this notification is being issued because it has been noticed that a false message is being spread that those who apply till April 4 will have the opportunity to cast their votes in the Lok Sabha elections.
