Journalists arrested in the criminal case of “Abzas Media” are not allowed to contact their relatives.
According to his relatives, Ulvi Hasanli, the founder of “Abzas Media”, has not contacted his relatives by phone since November 20, that is, the day of his arrest, and he has been banned from meeting his family members.
The ban also applied to other journalists arrested in the same criminal case.
According to his lawyers, the ban was imposed by the investigative body – Baku City Bsha Police Department. The courts also upheld that ban. However, the lawyers say that the ban is not justified either by the decisions of the courts or by the investigation. They believe that these bans are unjustified and violate the rights of the arrested journalists.
The head of the press department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Elshad Hajiyev, told Turan that the bans are related to the investigation, and all related questions are answered in the investigation.
Six journalists and press workers of “Abzas Media” were arrested in November-January in Azerbaijan. They are accused of “smuggling”.
