• Colonel Bhupinder Shahi is a Mohali based retired army officer, who has transistioned into a military consultant for films based on defence and intelligence operations in Bollywood.

• Bhupinder is a third-generation army officer of his family.

• Colonel has served in the Indian army from 1991 to 2017.

• In 1991, Sahi was commissioned into the 15th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.

• During his army career, Shahi served for over two decades in most challenging operational environements including counter-insurgency operations in Kashmir, deployments in Ladakh and Kargil, two tours on the Siachen Glacier, and a tenure with the elite National Security Guard for anti-terrorism duties.

• In an interview, Bhupinder Shahi mentioned that during his posting at JAKRIF Centre in Jabalpur, Martyred Captain Vikram Batra was under him, where Shahi was a company commander.

• In 2017, Colonel took premature retirement.

• Post his retirement, Bhupinder Shahi joined an adventure tourism, Cox & Kings as a general manager, where he worked on tourism projects like the Horn Bill Festival in Nagaland, Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, and events in Ladakh.

• During that time, he also contacted many film producers for technical assistance related to army.

• In 2018, Bhupinder Shahi joined Green Solar Infrastructure Company, New Delhi as a senior project manager.

• In 2020, he joined Juniper Green Energy, Gurugram as a general manager, where he worked on developing, constructing, and operating renewable Energy projects in field of Solar & Wind across India.

• In 2021, Bhupinder Shahi’s first military consultant project was in the film Shershaah (2021) starring Sidharth Malhotra. In an interview, he revealed that,

It was in 2017 when I was serving under Lt Gen YK Joshi, then GOC of 3 Infantry Division in Ladakh that I first came in touch with the movie industry. I was asked to provide assistance to the makers of the movie Shershah which was on the life of Capt Vikram Batra of Kargil fame. Incidentally, Vikram served was under me in JAKRIF Centre in Jabalpur where I was a company commander.”

• In an interview, Sahi mentioned that,

After Shershah became a hit I started getting offers by word of mouth. I have worked with directors like Nikhil Advani, Ram Madhwani and movie houses like Dharma Productions, Colour Yellow Productions etc.”

• In 2021, Bhupinder Shahi founded a logistic company, Olive Crew Pvt. Ltd. based in Mohali, Punjab.

• Some of his other notable projects as a military consultant are notable films under his advisory include Kill (2023), Veda (2024), Freedom at Midnight (2024), and Waking of a Nation (2025).

• In 2024, he started working for the films, Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026). In an interview, Shahi revealed that, he got the projects through a film industry connection. He further added,

“I started working on Dhurandhar in 2024 after being approached by an executive producer of the movie, Rahul Gandhi. My task essentially was to help the movie producers get the requisite permissions from Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF), making sure that the script portrays Army in the right way and there is no negativity of armed forces. The scenes which involve the military must look authentic and realistic.”

• In the film, Bhupinder Shahi’s work was to get permissions from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, and coordinating the use of MI-17 and Cheetah helicopters for film scenes.

• In February 2026, Col. Bhupinder Singh was awarded with Veteran Achievers Award for ensuring military’s authencity in the Bollywood films like Dhurandhar.

• Along with his military consultant career, Bhupinder Shah is also a politician and serving as Bharatiya Janata Party’s district vice president of Mohali.

• He also provide mentorship to young army cadets.
